At Meta, things are changing, and not for the better. The social media behemoth has made significant adjustments as Facebook has expanded into Web3 and altered its identity. Although Mark Zuckerberg has been criticized for Facebook's privacy settings and features, today's news shocked a large worldwide audience.
According to CNBC, Zuckerberg informed the Meta employees of the bad news in a letter this morning (November 9). Of its 87,000 employees, the business intends to let go of 11,000 of them. He allegedly said, “Today I’m sharing some of the most difficult changes we’ve made in Meta’s history,” he reportedly stated.
“I’ve decided to reduce the size of our team by about 13% and let more than 11,000 of our talented employees go. We are also taking a number of additional steps to become a leaner and more efficient company by cutting discretionary spending and extending our hiring freeze through Q1.”
Some Meta workers have stepped forward to defend the firm in the face of internet criticism. They argued that Meta was treating those impacted fairly and held that the adjustment was essential for progress on the whole.
