Dylann Roof, 21, the man suspected of shooting nine people dead in a South Carolina church last night (June 17) has been captured.
Roof was reportedly caught in Shelby, NC, which is about 40 miles outside of Charlotte and almost four hours from Charleston, SC.
He was arrested during a traffic stop and is in custody in Shelby.
The massacre occurred at the Emanuel AME Church, the oldest Black church in the south.
Reportedly, Roof said he went to the church to “shoot Black people.”
“You rape our women and you’re taking over our country—and you have to go,” said Roof in the church via a survivor’s account.
